Course Content

This comprehensive course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely at height using ladders and associated safety equipment. It provides a solid understanding of industry regulations, risk management, and best practices to ensure compliance and reduce the risk of falls or injury.

Topics include:

• Understanding Risks: Identifying hazards and challenges associated with working at height.
• Legislation Overview: Roles and responsibilities of employers and employees under safety regulations.
• Fall Arrest Equipment: Proper use, inspection, and care of fall protection systems.
• Ladder Safety Practices:
  • Safe use and positioning of ladders.
  • Fixings, anchorages, and stability checks.
  • Ladder-specific fall protection systems.
• Safety Harness Training:
  • Correct donning and adjustment of safety harnesses.
  • Safe use of related safety equipment.
• Equipment Maintenance: Inspection, maintenance, cleaning, and storage procedures.
• Practical Demonstration: Hands-on training with ladders and safety gear.
• Assessment: Multiple-choice test to confirm understanding.
• Review & Q&A: Final session for discussion and clarification.

Course Requirements

Participants must be physically fit.
Attendees should attend their course with all their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which has been issued by their employer for working at height.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Competence, valid for three years.
